Our Approach

We have a unique approach where we take pride in offering a specialised programme that caters for the unique needs of every child in our care. Our staff is not only highly trained but also deeply committed to tailoring their approach to each child’s individual needs and interests, ensuring a nurturing environment that fosters growth and development.

We firmly believe in partnering with parents/guardians, recognising their pivotal role in every child’s early development and ensuring a seamless transition for children from home to Childcare or Kindergarten and back. Open communication is paramount to meeting children’s needs consistently and with care. Parents/guardians are fundamental partners in their child's development, shaping the home environment where children spend the majority of their time. Collaborating with parents/guardians is integral to providing children with an excellent education, as they are the greatest resource to teachers. We actively seek their engagement, providing opportunities for feedback and suggestions on how to better serve their child.

Additionally, we offer ideas and activities for parents to reinforce learning at home, complementing what is taught at our centres. Through Illumine, parents/guardians have daily access to their child’s activities, observations, injury reports, photos, and progress, with the ability to provide feedback and share observations from home. Furthermore, parents/guardians have the opportunity to communicate with their child’s educator during pickup, discussing the child's day or any concerns. Twice a year, parents are invited to individual meetings with their child’s educator to review the child’s journal and discuss their overall learning experience, collaboratively mapping the way forward.

At the Child Educare Services of the University of Malta, we envision a world where every child is nurtured to reach their full potential. We aspire to be at the forefront of early childhood education, pioneering an innovative and holistic approach that leaves a lasting impact on the lives of children, families, and the community.

Our philosophy highlights the importance of the following as being our pillars for our approach to education and care:

Our Curriculum

  • By aligning our curriculum with the National Curriculum Framework for All 2012 (NCF 2012) to ensure that each child receives a well-rounded education and that our main goals are being covered. These goals are; children who develop a strong sense of identity; children who have a positive self-image; children are socially adept; children who are effective communicators and children who nurture positive attitudes towards learning and become engaged and confident learners.

Evaluation & Observations

  • Another aspect that goes hand in hand with this approach is the importance of evaluation and daily learning observations. Our educators closely observe each child’s journey of discovery. By paying close attention to their interests, strengths, and unique learning styles, we ensure that the children are engaged with the learning opportunities being presented to them. These observations are important to guide our teaching interventions and also to share with parents in order to achieve a continuation of the child’s development across all areas of their lives. In addition, these observations help the educator to monitor progress and adapt the teaching experiences so that each child is reaching their full potential.

Our commitment to pedagogy and learning is driven by a deep desire to provide your child with the best possible educational experience. We consider it a privilege to be part of their early years, and we are dedicated to supporting their growth, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning. Our daily observations, evaluations, and adherence to the Early Years Outcomes Framework are the cornerstones of our teaching philosophy, ensuring that each child’s journey with us is one of discovery, growth, and success.
