The U3A movement has not only withstood the test of time but is also marked by an extensive increase of centres and members all over the world. The country with the most populous numbers of U3A centres and members in China, which includes some 45,000 centres with over 5 million members. Australia and New Zealand include some 240 and 65 U3A centres, which cater for about 75,000 and 12,000 members respectively. Turning our attention to another continent, that of Africa, one finds that South Africa, one finds that South Africa includes about 30 U3As with some 11,000 members. The U3A is also popular in the Indian subcontinent which is characterised by about 800 centres spread all over India. In 2016, figures for Britain reached 798 U3A centres with some 269,750 members. Other countries with a significant number of U3A centres include Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Columbia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Finland, Taiwan, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Nepal, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
