SEA-EU Research Seed Fund 2026 – Call for Proposals

The University of Malta is launching the SEA-EU Research Seed Funds 2026 to support collaborative research and innovation initiatives within the SEA-EU Alliance. The aim of this call is to encourage researchers to initiate new collaborations that will lead to joint competitive project proposals.

🔹 Funding Available:

  • Up to €3,000 per project
  • 5 projects will be funded
  • Duration: 12 months

🔹Who Can Apply?

  • UM resident academic staff at TR4 level or higher
  • Projects must include at least one partner from another SEA-EU university
  • Only one proposal per applicant as Principal Investigator

🔹What Can the Grant Cover?

  • Travel and subsistence (e.g. conferences, workshops or training abroad linked with the Proposed Collaboration);
  • Purchase and rental of equipment (including any associated calibration and/or maintenance costs, as part of the package  included in the supplier’s invoice);
  • Consumables;
  • Dissemination (including publication and conference registration fees); and
  • Other relevant costs.
