A Bachelor degree from this University with at least Second Class (Honours) or Category II in the areas of Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Media, Communications, and the Humanities, or in any other area which the Board deems as appropriate.

Applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree from this University with Third Class Honours or Category III in the disciplines highlighted in the above paragraph may apply if they are also in possession of other qualifications or at least five years of relevant work experience, obtained following the first cycle degree. The admission of applicants under this paragraph may be made conditional on the results of an assessment as the Board may deem appropriate.

Applicants who are not in possession of the qualifications indicated above may also be considered if they submit a letter of motivation and a detailed curriculum vitae showing their experience and achievements to the satisfaction of the Admissions Board. Such applicants may be admitted by the Admissions Board under those conditions it may impose, which may include that the applicants pass in supplementary study-units to which not more than 12 ECTS credits are assigned.

Eligible applicants may register as visiting students for individual study-units and obtain credit for them. Should they be accepted to join the Course within five years from following the first study-unit, the Board may allow the transfer of these credits to the studentҳ academic record for the Course.

Applications for our February and October intakes have been officially open since the third week in November. You can submit your application online. The deadlines for submission of applications vary according to the intake and courses. We encourage all international applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible. This programme of study is offered over a period of three semesters full-time with face-to-face tuition imparted over four week-long intensive training periods, during the first part of the course, coupled with intensive personal mentoring sessions during the subsequent dissertation period.

The course is designed to impart knowledge to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) graduates, allowing you to become a successful entrepreneur and launch your own business ventures and to convince financiers to fund your ventures. Following an introduction to Entrepreneurship, you will cover topics in Innovation, Marketing, Strategy, Business Planning, Finance, Risk Management and Performance Management, all focusing on the requirements of entrepreneurs.

A mentored project will allow you to develop a feasibility study on a business of your choice, which leads to a final project consisting of a detailed business plan and funding presentations that can be applied in real life.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Master in Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship - M.Ent. - under the auspices of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation.

By successfully completing the Master in Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship, you should be able to:

  • Display a thorough understanding of entrepreneurship and what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur.
  • Use your knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship to plan, launch, manage and grow a sustainable commercial or social enterprise.
  • Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of: Business Models, Market Appraisals, Business Plans, Cash Flow Forecasts, Marketing and Funding Strategies, together with how to execute an Exit Strategy.
  • Create a sound business plan and apply it as a management tool
  • Appraise the main ways in which businesses are valued and identify how and when to raise funding for growth via debt or equity finance.
  • Assess how good project planning and management can minimise business risk.

If you are a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Maths graduate, the course will primarily teach you how to become an entrepreneur and launch your own successful business ventures, and convince financiers to finance your ventures.

If you are an intrapreneur, the course will teach you how to launch successful business initiatives within your own organisations and convince top management to fund your proposals and initiatives.

Finally, if you are a professional who works with entrepreneurs, the course will allow you to gain an excellent insight into the way entrepreneurs think, and allow you to provide better services to entrepreneurs.
