The Master of Pharmacy degree obtained from this University or from any other recognised university or a qualification deemed as comparable to the Master of Pharmacy degree by the Board.

Applicants whose qualifications in Pharmacy are obtained from a university other than the University of Malta are required to demonstrate that their qualifications provide access to practise as pharmacists, to the satisfaction of the Faculty Admissions Committee.

Applications for our February and October intakes have been officially open since the third week in November. You can submit your application online. The deadlines for submission of applications vary according to the intake and courses. We encourage all international applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible. This is especially important if you require a visa to travel and eventually stay in Malta.

In addition to the taught component which is the same as that for the Master in Advanced Clinical Pharmacy, Pharm. D. students are expected to undertake a Doctoral Research Dissertation and an Advanced Experiential as outlined in the programme of study. This course will prepare you to be a capable graduate in delivering a significant contribution to the practice of clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical policies and patient-centred pharmaceutical regulatory aspects. You will have the potential to lead the direction of new developments in the pharmaceutical profession and provide a significant impact in your respective field.

* Study-units PHR5636 and PHR6637 start in the Semester 1 of academic year 2025-26 and continue up to the end of Semester 2 of academic year 2026-27.  

This programme of study is governed by the Professional Doctorate Degree Course Regulations, 2014 and by the Bye-Laws for the Degree of Doctorate in Pharmacy - Pharm. D. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Integrate clinical pharmacy practical aspects with evidence-based pharmacotherapeutic concepts,
  • Develop advanced clinical pharmacy skills,
  • Establish leadership and inter-professional aspects,
  • Develop novel applications for innovative processes and practice scenarios,
  • Identify strategic priorities within pharmacy services,
  • Develop policies that support patient access to individualised therapies.

Total Tuition Fees: Eur 37,500
Yr 1: Eur 6,750 by semester - Yrs 2 and 3: Eur 6,000 by semester
