Applicants in terms of the 'maturity (adult learners) clause' are required to sit for an interview, held on a date which will be announced in due course. Once announced, this date cannot be changed. The closing date for receipt of applications from applicants in terms of the 'maturity (adult learners) clause' is 31 August 2024 at 2pm.

Applicants may also be required to submit a Learning Portfolio. Further information about the Portfolio will be forwarded to applicants.

Knowledge and Information Management is offered as a joint area of study together with a main area of study. You will gain knowledge and skills from a variety of compulsory and elective units. These range from; Libraries and Documentary Heritage, Information Theories, Archival Descriptions and Collection Development, to Globalised Dimension of Archives, Research Methods, Advanced Archival Description and Library Services to Children and Young Adults. In the final semester, the knowledge and skills gained will be demonstrated in a set of synoptic examinations, in which the topics learned will culminate.


Spanish and Latin American Studies

The undergraduate course in Spanish and Latin American Studies, we will provide you with an academic lens of the history, literature and development of the respective languages and countries. By learning about the culture, key figures and historical periods and progress as recalled through their literature, you will acquire an intricate and deeper understanding and appreciation of the language, its people and the country's current stance and contribution in a national and international manner. We will also refine your linguistic abilities and thus become more proficient in the language use. We will also encourage you to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility programme for a multicultural and diverse academic journey.


Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

Knowledge and Information Management

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Distinguish between different repositories of published and unpublished knowledge.
  • Decide the best standards to be used in compiling different archival descriptions.
  • the way information centres differ from the traditional library environments.
  • Describe the major organisational networks available for international collaboration in the archivesҠworld.
  • Comprehend the differences in terms of bibliographic description between a monograph and other media found in a collection.
  • Demonstrate the ability to consider separate knowledge as part of a larger whole.

Spanish and Latin American Studies

Upon successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Use an appropriate methodological approach to carry out research and write academic essays in a critical manner related to the field of study.
  • Use your heightened capacity for critical thought and knowledge on the subject matter to contribute to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary discussions.
  • Present and discuss literary texts in the target language through an accurate use of conversational, grammatical and lexical proficiency.
  • Recall key historical figures, past events, theorists and contributors to the language and literature in a discussion, while also linking its relevance to the countryҳ contemporary stance and its literature.

As a graduate with a joint area course, you will be able to use the transferable skills gained from knowledge and information management to provide an informed analysis, evaluation, and insight for the organisation or private/public company that you will be employed in. While not directly preparing you for a specific career, knowledge and information management as a joint area will make you a more attractive employee, widening your career possibilities. You may also choose to enrol in a masters' programme both locally or internationally of your choice, provided that the necessary admission requirements are met.
