This course is aimed at you if you are involved in the assessment of musculoskeletal function. This programme will be delivered through two main aspects: a 10 ECTS Research Methods study unit together with an 80 ECTS supervised independent research as per Faculty of Health Sciences bye-laws that govern this type of programme. This will ensure that you will attain the expertise necessary to perform clinical biomechanics data acquisition and analysis related to their speciality-research.

provided that for the Clinical Biomechanics area of study, applicants in possession of a first degree obtained with at least Second Class (Honours) in a discipline deemed by the Board as being related to the area of study in which the research is to be carried out shall be considered as eligible.
During the first year of the Course, students may be required to undergo an occupational health assessment so as to ascertain that they are fit for work which may bring them in contact with the clinical environment. Students who do not fulfil this requirement may be barred from progressing with their studies. Failure to disclose information about a physical or mental health problem that could affect patient safety is considered to be a serious breach of the University Suitability to Practise Regulations.

At the end of this course of study, you should be able to competently perform motion analysis acquisition, including kinematic and kinetic examinations utilizing the latest technology available for clinical biomechanics. Other practical competencies include the writing and interpretation of clinical biomechanics reports, including electromyographic data, foot pressure mapping and force measurement data, which are integrated within kinematic reports.
