In this M.Sc. in Financial Regulation and Compliance, you'll dive deep into key areas that shape the modern financial landscape. You'll explore governance and audit management, equipping you with the tools to oversee and ensure proper business practices. As you study business ethics, you'll develop a strong understanding of the moral frameworks that guide decision-making. The compliance management study-unit will help you master the regulatory requirements that keep financial institutions on track, while the sustainable finance regulations will prepare you to navigate the growing emphasis on responsible and eco-conscious finance. This course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to thrive in the complex world of financial regulation.

A Bachelor’s degree obtained with at least Second Class Honours or Category II in an area of study deemed suitable by the Board, provided that applicants in possession of the degree with Third Class Honours or Category III may also be considered, if they satisfy the Board that they are in possession of other qualifications, including relevant experience, obtained following their first cycle degree.

The Faculty Admissions Committee may, after thorough examination of the documents submitted in support of the qualifications presented, and following an interview, recommend the admission of applicants applying for admission in terms of the University’s Policy for the Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL) who are in possession of other academic or professional qualifications and documented experience if these are deemed to be comparable to the qualification referred to in the above paragraph. The admission of such applicants may be made subject to those conditions that may be imposed to address any lacunae in the applicants’ academic preparation.

Total credits for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Regulation and Compliance: 90 ECTS credits

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the degree of Master of Arts - M.A. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.

By the end of the postgraduate course, you will be able to:

  • critically assess and apply governance frameworks and audit processes within financial institutions.
  • to identify, analyse, and evaluate a range of financial and operational risks within an organisation.
  • interpret and apply key regulatory frameworks related to sustainable and responsible finance.
  • Learn the skills of extended scholarly writing.

As a graduate with an M.Sc. in Insurance and Risk Management, you will be eligible for a career in the Insurance public/private sector. As noted above in the learning outcomes, the skills gained will prepare you for PhD studies or any other research areas.
