Over the course of the Bachelor of Commerce in Banking and Finance, you will gain essential insights on how banking and finance make part of a dynamic industry to drive global economies. The variety of taught units comprise the foundations and intricacies of financial management, risk assessment, and investment strategies, which are part and parcel with the principles of banking operations, equity markets, and regulatory frameworks that shape the sector's evolution. The course is designed to equip you with the ability to analyse market trends, optimise investment portfolios, and prepare you to make informed decisions for when you will work with a prospective company. By the end of the course, you will have acquired a refined skillset that will hone your problem-solving skills and prepare you to thrive for a rewarding career in banking and finance.


Marketing

The Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing interprets and explains the dynamic world of consumer behaviour and brand strategy. Throughout the course, you will comprehend the psychology of buyers, market research techniques, and innovative communication strategies. The variety of taught study-units will explore different but intertwining facets, such as product development, digital marketing, and advertising in a rapidly evolving business landscape. By the end of the course, you will have sharpened your creative thinking and problem-solving skills.


Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

Banking, Finance and Investments

An Intermediate Level pass in Pure Mathematics.

Applicants wishing to choose Banking, Finance and Investments as one of the two main areas of study may also be admitted into the Course if they are in possession of a pass at Intermediate Level in Pure Mathematics together with one of the following qualifications:

  1. the Certificate in Banking of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (comprising six subjects) or
  2. the Advanced Diploma in Financial Services offered by MCAST or
  3. any other qualifications deemed relevant by the Board, provided that the qualifications comprise not less than 120 ECTS credits and are offered at MQF Level 4 or higher.

Marketing

An Intermediate Level pass in Pure Mathematics.

Banking, Finance and Investments

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Commerce degree course, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend the fundamental importance of effective management in generating value and the realisation of objectives in any form or type of organisation in an applied manner.
  • Explain the concept of shareholder value maximisation and how it applies in finance.
  • Describe the importance of professional secrecy and anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing.
  • Identify the main issues that bank managers face on a day-to-day basis.
  • Carry out financial analytics and source an array of information for insurance and banking and finance investment decisions.
  • Calculate the value of fixed income securities.

Marketing

Upon successfully completing the Bachelor of Commerce degree course, you will:

  • Outline stages in the development of complex organisations and corresponding stages in the development of organisational psychology.
  • Navigate through the complexities of the research industry, design marketing, research processes, source data from secondary sources, develop primary data collection tools, manage sample design and produce research reports.
  • Recognise the importance of the Customer Journey as a business tool.
  • Describe the internal and external environments affecting digital marketing and analyse implications for the marketing mix.
  • Evaluate the complexities of the interaction and network approach to business markets.
  • Illustrate the links between marketing strategy and other elements of the organisation, such as organisational structure, culture, and core competencies.

Banking, Finance and Investments

By the end of the course, your strong foundation in banking and finance will prepare you for a variety of career choices, both in the private or public sector. These include roles such as a financial analyst, investment banker, risk manager, or even as a financial consultant, provided that the necessary requirements have been met. You may also choose to enrol in a postgraduate course locally or with a foreign institution, furthermore expanding your career paths that may include the possibility of becoming a researcher or academic.


Marketing

As a successful graduate, you will have an amplitude of roles to choose from. Such roles feature marketing management, digital strategy, and brand consultancy. The course also provides a strong foundation to enter an MBA with a marketing focus, and the possibility to enrol in alternative postgraduate courses that pave the way for academic careers or specialised marketing positions.
