Media Studies and Journalism

This programme offers you a strong foundation in media theory, journalism, and practical communication skills. In your first year, you will explore diverse aspects of communications, including journalism, photography, film, and media culture. As the course progresses, if you choose the Media Studies and Journalism stream from your second year, you will develop core journalistic competencies such as investigative reporting, ethics in the media, photojournalism, and data journalism, while also engaging with broader media studies themes. You will have opportunities to enhance your practical skills through documentary film production, digital content creation, and a professional placement. Throughout the course, you are encouraged to explore how journalism operates in local and international contexts, both historically and in the digital age, so you can critically engage with the media landscape and contribute meaningfully to it.

Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.
