DESCRIPTION This study-unit will examine the requirements of international financial reporting standards that deal with borrowing costs, revenue recognition, leasing and related party disclosures. The study-unit will emphasise the financial reporting requirements of accounting standards applicable to the public sector concerning consolidations and financial instruments.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to build upon prior knowledge of students reading for the BA (Hons)Public Sector Accounting by introducing them to further accounting standards relating to specialised areas, in particular, borrowing costs, revenue, leases, associates and joint ventures, consolidations, related party disclosures and financial instruments, with particular reference to the Public Sector.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to interpret IPSASs relating to specialised aspects of financial statements.

2. Skills

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to apply IPSASs relating to borrowing costs, revenue, leases, associates and joint ventures, consolidations, related party disclosures and financial instruments.
