DESCRIPTION This study-unit requires the student to address a research question related to one or more of the areas covered during the BSc. in Air Transport programme. The research question, aim and objectives will be defined by the student and/or the supervisor. The student will be regularly monitored by the supervisor. At the end of the study unit, the student will be required to submit a long essay.

Study-unit Aims:

To conduct research in an aerospace-related area and report the findings in a long essay.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Describe and appraise the research topic addressed in the long essay;
- Describe the research methodology used;
- Highlight further areas for potential research.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Formulate a research question and hypothesis;
- Conduct a literature review and analyse information from different sources;
- Work on his/her own initiative with minor supervision;
- Report and discuss research findings in an academic report.

The choice of subjects is varied and supplementary readings will be recommended accordingly.

 
ADDITIONAL NOTES Pre-Requisite Study-unit: AET2905

Students shall carry out one piece of work for the UM dissertation / ERAU capstone but shall present individual submissions to each institution in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of each institution. Each student shall have a supervisor from each institution for his/her dissertation/capstone in accordance with the rules and regulations of the respective institution.
