| DESCRIPTION | Objectives: To familiarise the students with the principal animal and other organisms causing disease in plants and to know how diseases and epidemics develop in agricultural crops. Contents: General aspects of Crop Pathology; concept of disease in crops; classification of pathogenic organisms; disease development; parasitism and pathogenicity; dissemination of the pathogen; epidemiology. Disease of Maltese crops. Diagnostics; field and laboratory examinations. Reading List: - Agrios, Plant Pathology; Elzinga, Fundamentals of Entomology. |
