DESCRIPTION This study-unit explores a diverse range of topics within Chinese Studies and offer interdisciplinary insights into fields such as Chinese literature, history, linguistics, and culture. Through critical analysis of selected themes, students will deepen their understanding of China's intellectual and cultural traditions while engaging with contemporary scholarly debates.

Study-Unit Aims:

- Provide students with a comprehensive understanding of selected topics in Chinese Studies;
- Equip students with the skills to critically engage with primary sources and scholarly interpretations in Chinese Studies;
- Introduce students to current academic discussions and debates within the field of Sinology.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Analyze primary and secondary sources to understand significant issues and debates within Sinology;
- Evaluate critical perspectives and methodologies used in Sinology;
- Synthesize knowledge from various disciplines within Chinese Studies to develop a nuanced understanding of selected themes.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Interpret primary and secondary materials critically;
- Construct well-argued written presentations on topics in Chinese Studies, demonstrating clarity and coherence;
- Adapt academic skills to various professional contexts.
