DESCRIPTION Each topic is revised through a synoptic lecture and then discussed interactively using past-paper questions or other to stimulate knowledge and understanding of the conditions dealt with.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit is a synoptic exercise in Neurology. The aim is to revise neurological diseases already thought in the second year, with the intention of improving understanding of the subject and encourage discussion about the different conditions and their managment as well as their application to individuals with communication disorders.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to acquire advanced knowledge related to neurological conditions as well as understand their manifestation in individuals with consequent communication difficulties.

2. Skills:

The skills aquired should include proper assessment of the neurological conditions discussed, with subsequent plan of management. A thorough understanding of the different condtions as a basis of all this is encouraged contuinuously. Exposure to the different condtions discussed in the clinical scenario during the time period between the teaching module in second year and the synoptic module in final year is considered to be a great asset.
