DESCRIPTION Photography is vastly different in these early years of the 21st century, no longer the result of light exposed to film, nor necessarily lens based. As digital technology has all but replaced the chemical process, photography is now an increasingly shape-shifting medium. Technology is blurring the lines between documentation of the actual world and creating new realities and possibilities through the medium of photography. The continuing rise of digital culture has reignited the interest in photography. It is a mass art form that now has access to massive and increasing channels of distribution.

Rationale for the Study-unit:

The rationale behind the study-unit is that of taking students up another level after their basic photography course. With their new found techniques, students undertaking this study-unit will be learning about various techniques taken at a higher level to produce different work. They should start consolidating at their basic skills in order to start developing their own style in photography.

Study-Unit Aims:

This study-unit is aimed for students who have completed the basic photography course or who already have a sound understanding of the DSLR camera and wish to produce work of a higher standard. This unit allows students to experiment with more in depth photography techniques, and work on developing their own style in photography.

Learning Outcomes & Skills:

- Understand photography techniques at a higher level;
- Understand various artistic genres related to photography in both historic and contemporary eras;
- Access their own work for portfolio and exhibition;
