MQF LEVEL | Not Applicable
ECTS CREDITS | Not Applicable
DEPARTMENT | Doctoral School
DESCRIPTION | Transferring one’s registration from M.Phil. to Ph.D. status is not simply an administrative procedure. This stage of the doctoral journey is a formal assessment and should be considered an opportunity for doctoral candidates to share and discuss the research being undertaken with colleagues and experienced academic members of staff in order to obtain feedback and constructive critical insights. This workshop will focus on the students’ preparations as well as the Transfer Assessment Board’s expectations with regard to documentation and oral presentation. OUTCOMES By the end of this workshop, doctoral researchers should be: - aware of salient components which need to be included in the documentation to be submitted for formal assessment; - aware of a range of communication skills (written and oral) which can be drawn upon to support and clarify the submitted products; - familiar with the criteria used when examining work in progress; - more cognisant of the role of the Transfer Assessment Board; - better informed of the administrative processes involved. |
