| DESCRIPTION | This research skills workshop challenges widespread assumptions about digital competence and provides doctoral students with a research-informed framework for navigating our digitally saturated academic landscape. Moving beyond social media marketing and platform usage, the updated workshop addresses the critical AI literacies required for contemporary doctoral research. The workshop addresses the reality that even digitally competent researchers often lack the critical literacies needed to navigate platform constraints, algorithmic curation, and AI integration ethically. Through practical exercises and theoretical frameworks grounded in contemporary research, participants will examine how digital technologies shape academic identity, research practices, and knowledge production. The session explores interconnected digital literacy domains essential for 21st-century scholarship: information evaluation in AI-augmented environments, algorithmic awareness, data privacy management, ethical technology integration, and strategies for maintaining scholarly integrity while leveraging emerging technologies. The workshop will be delivered in an iterative manner. Participants will be encouraged to discuss specific areas of research interest within the context of the workshop topics. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Evaluate and integrate AI technologies critically in research practice; • Manage information, privacy, and professional identity in digital research environments; • Contribute to ethical digital scholarship by distinguishing between technical competence and critical digital literacy, creating sustainable frameworks for ongoing learning that adapt to emerging technologies, modeling ethical engagement with digital systems, and advocating for transparent and equitable digital academic infrastructure in their research communities. |

| ADDITIONAL NOTES | This workshop is designed for doctoral students across disciplines who recognise that digital competence extends far beyond knowing how to use social media or AI tools. It is particularly valuable for researchers who want to move beyond uncritical technology adoption to develop sophisticated, ethical approaches to digital engagement in their academic practice.
