DESCRIPTION This study-unit will investigate the interplay between human rights and conflict. This investigation will be applied to both conflictual situations as well as post-conflict scenarios. The study-unit will commence with an introduction to the theoretical and legal framework of human rights and the distinction between human rights law and humanitarian law. This will be followed by an empirical analysis that concentrates on the enforcement of human rights and humanitarian rights in conflict situations. Finally the study-unit will examine the tensions inherent between peace-makers and human rights advocates in conflict resolution situations.
