| DESCRIPTION | The study unit is planned to help participants develop more creative adaptation, productive working and positive living; together with enhancing their sensitivity to group, cultural and unique life patterns. Participants will have the opportunity to express their own problems, feelings, ideas and reactions as freely and honestly as possible. Such exploration gives the group members the important information needed to understand and help one another. Participants learn not only to understand themselves and their own issues but also become 'helpers' for others. This is useful because it provides opportunities to learn with and from other people, to understand one's own patterns of thought and behaviour and those of others, and to perceive how group members react to one another. Tentative Course Outline: Professional issues - Competencies for educational and vocational guidance practitioners - Ethical issues - Case studies Sensitivity training - Basic T-group techniques - Personal growth - Self-expression - Dealing with emotions - Values of openness and honesty - Interacting within a small group Main Text/s and any supplementary readings: View reading list |
