DESCRIPTION This study-unit will introduce students to some of the fundamental aspects of managing and delivering career guidance services. Special attention will be given to the development and delivery of a career education programme within different settings. It will also enable students to carry out a programme evaluation. Students will understand the steps involved in an evaluation process and learn how to choose between forms of evaluations that are used at different stages of development and implementation.

Study-unit Outline:

Management and delivery of guidance services:
- The economic significance of guidance;
- Understanding and evaluating the management and delivery of guidance services (identification of client needs, prioritizing them, responding to them);
- The nature and function of networks and partnerships (with education, employment, training, community);
- Getting to know relevant organisations in Malta.

Programme evaluation:

The evaluation process:
- Planning and negotiating an evaluation plan;
- Collecting and analyzing evidence to produce findings;
- Disseminating information to identified audiences.

Forms of evaluation:
- Process and outcome evaluation;
- Formative and summative evaluation;
- The basic tenants of the five forms of evaluation (proactive, clarificative, interactive, monitoring, impact evaluation).
