DESCRIPTION The aim of the dissertation is for a student to identify and undertake an appropriate area of research, including setting out a research problem and paying particular attention to its relevance to geography. In addition, the selection of the appropriate site/s where the investigation is to be undertaken is of vital importance.

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

The student should by the end of the study-unit be able to select the appropriate geographical epistemologies, methodologies and techniques for the particular topic and critically evaluate and present the data generated in appropriate formats and analyze and interpret the findings in the light of existing knowledge.

ADDITIONAL NOTES **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.
