| DESCRIPTION | In this study-unit, the theory and practice of translating will be introduced. Short texts (German/Maltese/English) will be translated into the respective other language. (For students who do not speak Maltese, English and German texts will be used.) In diesem Kurs werden sowohl die Theorie als auch die Praxis des Übersetzens einführend behandelt. Kurze Texte (Deutsch/Maltesisch/Englisch) werden in die jeweils andere Sprache übersetzt. (Für Studierende, die nicht Maltesisch sprechen, werden nur deutsche und englische Texte benutzt.) Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims to: - introduce basic theory of translation; - teach how to translate short texts into the respective other language; - widen the German vocabulary; - teach basic translation skills. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - know basic theory of translation; - know more German words; - understand German texts better; - know how to translate short texts. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - translate short texts into the respective other language; - express him/herself better in German; - make use of a wider vocabulary.
