DESCRIPTION The objective of this study-unit is to enable students to express themselves fluently and spontaneously in Italian and to master the language in professional and academic contexts. Students will be taught to process material which is cognitively demanding.

Study-unit Aims:

- To enhance and consolidate the command of spoken and written Italian including the use of complex sentence structures;
- To strengthen reading and listening comprehension skills;
- To assist students in be knowledgeable about Italian History, the Arts, the Media and contemporary socio-political contexts.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- understand written and spoken Italian;
- summarize coherently a series of events or arguments from oral or written sources;
- express themselves in a spontaneous and fluent manner and to master the nuances of the Italian language.

2. Skills:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- make use of a rich Italian vocabulary by applying language structures studied in the previous Study-Units;
- understand and discuss topics pertaining to general knowledge, Italian civilization and culture.
