| DESCRIPTION | 1. Neurology History and Examination 2. Cerebrovascular Disease 3. Epilepsy 4. Head and Spinal Trauma 5. CNS Infection 6. Brain Tumours 7. Dementias 8. Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders 9. Multiple Sclerosis 10. Myaesthenia Gravis and Guillaine Barre Syndrome 11. Cerebral Palsy, Mental Subnormality, Hydrocephalus. Study-unit Aims: An understanding of common neurological conditions which speech and language pathologists are most likely to meet in their practice. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will have a knowledge and understanding of pathology, clinical features, investigations and treatment of neurological diseases. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to, based on this knowledge, be able to offer the appropriate management regarding speech, communication and safe swallowing in these neurological conditions.
