| DESCRIPTION | This unit tries to explore the ethical and theological dimensions of the relationship between theology and society, giving special attention to economics, politics and culture. It also considers the kind of action which faith and justice require, particularly from Christians, on the individual and collective levels, to promote appropriate attitudes and structures in the economic, political and cultural domains. The study unit focuses on some of the major images used currently in the construction of the world of economics and politics and investigates the relationship of faith to economics and politics in the course of the Christian tradition. Ethical issues relating to production and distribution, as well as the promotion of the common good in a pluralistic society, the relation between law and ethics, Church and State, politics and spirituality will be discussed. All this is discussed within the framework of the post modern culture and the pastoral and theological challenges and opportunities it offers to the Church and to the individual Christian.
