DESCRIPTION The overall aim of the dissertation is to allow students to extend their understanding of bioethics by pursuing an independent research project on a chosen topic. It thus offers students the opportunity to acquire a detailed understanding of a particular area of bioethics, including an in-depth knowledge of the relevant literature on the chosen subject matter.

Learning Objectives

On completion of the dissertation, students should be able:
a) to write critically on particular bioethical issues;
b) to analyse and articulate complex issues independently, systematically and critically;
c) to undertake sustained critical analysis;
d) to continue their own competence in research, specialization and personal formation.

 
ADDITIONAL NOTES **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.
