Transport

Transport

Buses are quite inexpensive. You can also apply for a student card and save some money. Visit the public transport website for further information.

Just remember that if you rent an apartment close to the University, you won’t be using buses that much. In Malta, unlike many countries, driving is on the left side of the road (as in the UK). This is very important when crossing a road. In general, drivers do stop when they approach a zebra crossing but make sure cars on both sides of the road stop completely before crossing. You are advised to cross only at zebra crossings as drivers are not required to stop elsewhere.   In Malta, people use their cars, public buses and sometimes their motorcycles/bicycles to travel. Taxis are available but can be quite expensive for everyday use. A 10-minute trip by taxi may cost more or less EUR 15 to EUR 20. There are now a number of Uber-like companies that provide this service.   Hiring a car requires an International Driving License. The average daily rate is EUR 40, depending on the season, the age of the driver, the size and model of the car.
