Full-Time Academic Post in Marketing
Junior College
Applications are invited for a Full-time Academic post in Marketing at the Junior College.
The appointment will be on an indefinite basis, subject to one-year probationary period, up to statutory retirement age.
Candidates will normally be required to have a relevant first degree (MQF Level 6) and a postgraduate qualification at (MQF Level 7) with a minimum of 90 ECTS related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach or a relevant first degree (MQF Level 6) and a Master of Teaching and Learning (MTL) at (MQF Level 7) with a minimum of 90 ECTS related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach.
The lecturing categories at the Junior College are those of Junior College Assistant Lecturer, Junior College Lecturer, Junior College Senior Lecturer I and Junior College Senior Lecturer II.
Junior College Assistant Lecturer:
At least five (5) years of teaching and/or professional experience in a position of responsibility directly related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach, or a combination of both making up at least five (5) full years.
Junior College Lecturer:
At least eight (8) years of teaching experience or professional experience in a position of responsibility related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach, or a combination of both making up at least eight (8) full years.
Junior College Senior Lecturer I:
At least thirteen (13) years of teaching experience or professional experience in a position of responsibility related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach, or a combination of teaching experience and professional experience making up the thirteen (13) full years.
Junior College Senior Lecturer II:
At least seventeen (17) years teaching experience or professional experience in a position of responsibility related to the subject matter they are engaged to teach, or a combination of teaching experience and professional experience making up the seventeen (17) full years;
Moreover, such an officer is expected to have obtained local recognition as an expert teacher of their subject through the development of pedagogical material, contribution to curricular development and/or publication of academic works that are suited to support the teaching of their subjects at secondary and post-secondary levels.
Salary
The annual salary for 2026 attached to the respective lecturing categories is as follows:
Junior College Senior Lecturer II: €43,438 plus Academic Supplement of €6,866
Junior College Senior Lecturer I: €39,545 plus Academic Supplement of €6,365
Junior College Lecturer: €33,733 with an annual increment of €641 up to €35,015 and an Academic Supplement of €5,784
Junior College Assistant Lecturer: €31,559 with an annual increment of €596 to €32,751 and an Academic Supplement of €3,435
The University of Malta will provide academic staff with financial resources through the Junior College Academic Resources Fund to support their teaching, their activities related to curriculum development and the promotion of their subject.

General Working Obligations
The conditions of work for the Academic Staff at the Junior College are set out in the ‘Collective Agreement between the University of Malta and the Malta Union of Teachers for Academic Staff of the Junior College January 2019 – December 2023’ and the ‘Manual of Conduct and Procedures’.
Junior College Academics’ commitment is based on a 40-hour week. Formal teaching duties at the Junior College shall be carried out from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00.
Staff may be asked to teach outside these times only on a voluntary basis for a stipulated period and against additional compensation.
Should the Junior College introduce Diploma level courses during the term of this Collective Agreement, the working conditions and remuneration for these courses shall be devised in agreement with the union.
The appointment will be subject to a probationary period of one year and to the provisions of the Statutes, Regulations and Bye-Laws of the University of Malta which are now or which may hereafter be in force.
