Introduction: the role of a student representative

Each Faculty at the University of Malta has student representatives at course level, on Faculty Board as well as on Council and Senate. Student representatives participate and attend Board meetings and other functions and present the students’ voice. Students may contact their representative should they require advice or for the representative to deal with a complaint.

I currently am in my second year studying AI at UOM and also my second year of being a representative. I am from Għajnsielem and my favorite thing in the world is music. I love to play guitar and listen to music. I also love my festa, watermelons and baħar.

Hi, I am Gabriel Pace and this year's Computer Engineering student rep for the first yr's. I am 18 years old and I really love travelling and making new friends. I took this role in order to help my classmates with any concerns they might have.

Marzia Cassar has graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Business & IT and is currently reading for an MSc in Cybersecurity. As a student representative, my role is to serve as a bridge between the Faculty and students, and working to facilitate their overall experience.

Adrian Paul Debono

Master of Science in Cybersecurity 

My name is Adrian Paul Debono and  I am currently in my second year of the part-time M.Sc. in Cybersecurity course. With 13 years of professional experience in networks and IoT, as a Technical Product Manager, my goal is to broaden my expertise within the cybersecurity domain. Outside of work, I am a sports car enthusiast and a new dad.

James Gatt

James Gatt is a first year student, currently studying for a Masters in Microelectronics and Microsystems
after graduating from his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

Michael A

Master of Science in Human Language Science & Technology

Michael Atamakira Awanah is pursuing a double master’s degree in Language and Communication Technologies (LCT) under the EU Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Programme. He completed his first year at the University of Trento, Italy, and is currently specialising in Human Language Science and Technology at the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Malta. Michael served as the LCT Students Representative for the 2024/2025 academic year, fostering collaboration and innovation among peers.
He earned his BSc in Computer Science in 2022 from the University for Development Studies, Ghana, where he was an MTN Ghana Bright Scholar throughout his undergraduate studies. Before this, he worked as a mathematics teacher with the Ghana Education Service, an experience that inspired his commitment to bridging educational inequalities. He aims to leverage his master’s training to design AI-driven research interventions that enhance education in underserved communities.

Jeremy Farrugia

Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence

Jeremy Farrugia is currently pursuing his Master’s in Artificial Intelligence while concurrently working full-time as an RSO. He completed his B.Sc. IT in Artificial Intelligence in 2025. His undergraduate final year project involved creating a speech prosthesis by using AI to interpret EEG signals. Jeremy has a particular interest in applying AI in better understanding the mind, neuroscience and improving healthcare.

David Imolore

Master of Science (by Research)

My name is David Imolore and I am currently pursuing a Master's by Research in Information and Communication Technology at the University of Malta, with a specialized focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for business applications—including sales and demand forecasting, as well as inventory management. Alongside my academic journey, I have served as Head of Content and Research at the conservation startup Fund The Planet for the past three years, gaining valuable experience in bridging technology and environmental impact. I am deeply passionate about nature, continuous learning, and solving real-world problems through innovative AI solutions.
