Earth Systems alumni benefit from a wide range of employment opportunities with:

  • Environmental appraisal consultancies
  • The University of Malta and other educational and research institutions
  • International governmental and non-governmental agencies, such as the European Environment Agency, World Conservation Union (IUCN), Conservation International, the World Wildlife Fund, the World Bank, and various UN agencies including FAO, UNESCO, UNEP, UNDP and UNIDO.

Graduates in Earth Systems are ideally placed to pursue careers in the management and planning of activities at the human-nature interface. and bring skills to the job from both the natural and social sciences.

International Careers

As well as working locally, recent Earth Systems graduates are forging international careers in countries that include the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, Ethiopia, Argentina, Costa Rica, the USA and Australia.

Further studies and research

Graduates are also well-equipped to pursue postgraduate studies locally or abroad in areas including geosciences, biodiversity conservation, marine sciences, water resources management, ecological economics, political ecology, and risk management, among others.

Our alumni have successfully continued their studies at both Master and Ph.D. level in a number of European countries, as well as further afield in Canada and Malaysia. Other Earth Systems alumni have joined research programmes in such far-flung countries as Thailand and Tanzania.
