MCRR2

This volume collects the papers presented at ICoD’s Second International Conference on the Management of Coastal Recreational Resources – Beaches, Yacht Marinas & Coastal Ecotourism, held in the Island of Gozo (Malta) between the 25th and 27th October 2006.

This conference was the second in a biennial series focusing on selected aspects of coastal management, namely the management of beaches, yacht marinas and ecotourism. The conference provided an opportunity and forum to discuss the impact of increasing tourism on natural coastal resources and to assess what balance may be struck between our desire to derive an increased benefit from tourism and the necessity of conserving the playground in which such tourism activities take place, thus contributing to the search for the all-important “sustainable development formula”.
