Keyboard IT Services is encouraging staff and students to make use of the Maltese language support facilities in MS Windows XP, Vista or 7 to type Maltese characters (Ċ, ċ, Ġ, ġ, Ħ, ħ, Ż & ż etc.). These language support facilities do not require the installation of additional fonts.

All IT Services workstations are configured so that users can type the Maltese characters. Students are encouraged to follow this guide [PDF] to configure their home computer systems running MS Windows XP, Vista or 7 to be able to type the Maltese characters. The Maltese language support can be enabled on computer systems having MS Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.

Note: SIMS users are requested to contact User Support Office to enable the Maltese language support on their computer systems.

IT Services is also distributing self-adhesive labels displaying the Maltese characters that may be applied on existing keyboards in line with Maltese keyboard layout standards set by the Malta Standards Authority. Students are invited to collect these labels (free of charge) from IT Services Reception desk.
