We subscribe to academic periodicals pertaining to various fields related to courses offered by the University of Malta. We subscribe to more than 60,000 titles in electronic format, which are accessible 24/7 and some 150 titles in print format.
Our aim is to facilitate the patrons’ research methodology by teaching them how to locate the relevant information they require for their studies. We excel in providing support on the use of online resources via the Library website.
The Periodicals Department accommodates print journals published after 2015. Journals published before 2015 are located in one of our depositories. If you would like to consult material housed in these depositories, fill in and submit the online request form. The journals will be brought to the Periodicals Department for consultation within two or three days after submission of the request form. Journals cannot be borrowed.
In addition to managing periodical subscriptions, the Periodicals Department also oversees the Read & Publish Agreements established between the University of Malta Library and major publishers. These agreements allow UM academics to publish Open Access without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs), while also ensuring continued access to subscription-based journal content.
More information on eligible journals and publishers can be found on the Read & Publish Agreements page on the Library website.
