The Data Science Research Platform (DSRP) at the University of Malta was formed in May 2018, and approved by Senate in May 2019, to conduct research in the interdisciplinary field of data science. The scope is to use signal processing, machine learning and statistics to develop innovative techniques and to extract useful knowledge from various data sources in an effective manner to benefit the wider public. We collaborate with various local and international institutions in the fields encompassing engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics and geoscience, computational linguistics, aeronautics and medicine.
Our members are engaged in the following areas of research:
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Signal/Image Processing
- Computer Vision
- Probabilistic Modelling
- Data Compression
- GPU computing, Embedded Systems and High-Performance Computing
- Search and Optimisation
We organise monthly seminars in areas related to Data Science. To receive notifications about future events, please subscribe to our events mailing list.
