Her undergraduate degree was obtained in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malta. Following that, she spent a couple of years designing jigs for Methode Electronics and working as a Process Engineer for ST Microelectronics. She furthered her studies with a PGCE, specializing in Mathematics Education, and a Masters Degree in Educational Studies: Learning, Teaching and Research from the University of Sheffield. Ms. Agius has been teaching mathematics for over 10 years, these last four years teaching A-Level Pure Mathematics to international students who want to follow undergraduate degrees in Science, Engineering, Building Services and ICT. She also lectured Fluid Mechanics II in the engineering undergraduate course for four years at the University of Malta, and also another year lecturing in Particle Dynamics, as a part-time assistant lecturer. Recently, Ms. Agius has been appointed as an Area Coordinator of the Science, Engineering and ICT Foundation Course in the International School of Foundation Studies.
