Dr Camilleri Podesta is a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta. She was appointed Visiting Assistant Lecturer in October 2010 at the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta. Since October 2014, she was given a permanent visiting teaching appointment. She was appointed Educational Supervisor for the Foundation Programme Malta in 2013 where she acts as the key person for overseeing a specific foundation trainee. She is also a Clinical Supervisor for trainees in Anaesthesia and Intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital, Malta.
Dr Camilleri Podesta is an educator on the Teach the Teacher (TTT) course organised by the European Society of Anesthesiology as well as an educator for the European Resuscitation Council.She is a director and instructor for the Generic Instructor Course, Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course and Immediate Life Support Courses and an instructor for the European Paediatric Life Support Courses(EPLS). Since 2009 she has played a very active role in the preparation, administration and teaching on these courses and over the past few years, also directing the courses both in Malta as well as in Sweden and Sri Lanka. She organises a Faculty Development Day each year, where Maltese EPLS, ETC and ALS instructors receive updates on teaching resuscitation. In 2015 she was the team leader of the CPR team representing Malta in the CPR competition, held in Prague. She also led the Malta team that won the CPR competition held in Freiburg in September 2017, during the ERC congress.
Dr Camilleri Podesta was elected committee member (liaison officer) of the Association of Anaesthetists of Malta (AAM) and is currently working on updating the training document.
She is also an elected committee member of the Malta Resuscitation Council.
