Dr Ing. Bartolo is Acting Managing Director of Malta University Innovations Portfolio Ltd., a wholly owned company of the University of Malta that invests in and supports university spin-outs. He is also an Executive Director of FLASC B.V., a University of Malta spin-out company. Until September 2024, Anton Bartolo held the position as Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office at the University of Malta, which he founded in 2009. The role of the Office is to commercialise research developed at the University of Malta, and to promote research collaboration between the university and industry.
Anton holds an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree from the University of Malta, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University. In the USA he held research positions with the Department of Neurology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and the Magnetophysiology Laboratory of the University of New Mexico. In Malta he previously worked for Synergene Biotechnology Group as Intellectual Property and Collaborations Manager, and with Malta Enterprise in Investment Promotion, Niche Development and Special Projects. He is a Member of the Association of European Technology Transfer Professionals (ASTP), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Malta Chamber of Engineers.
