Dr Mark Debono is a Senior Lecturer II at Ġ.F. Abela Junior College, University of Malta, where he teaches Systems of Knowledge. His teaching experience has always explored the theoretical and practical implications of the interdisciplinary connections between politics, art, the environment, and science and technology.
Drawing on the philosophical frameworks of Friedrich Nietzsche and Jacques Derrida, Dr Debono analyses how disciplinary knowledge can be used to dominate thinking, exploring the ethical and political implications of these limits in concrete situations.
He obtained his doctoral degree in ‘Pedagogical Sciences-Theory and Philosophy of Education’ from the University of Cyprus under the supervision of Professor Marianna Papastephanou. His recent international publications show how an uncritical attitude towards a dominant ‘truth’ in dialogue can restrict students' ability to think differently.
