Specialist in Italian language, literature and culture. Graduated Bachelor of Arts in Italian and Communications after submitting a dissertation on "Il concetto di giustizia nel teatro pirandelliano e bettiano", Master of Arts in Italian following successful defence of the thesis entitled "Il Giornale Maltese di Ignazio Saverio Mifsud", and Doctor of Philosophy in Italian following an eight-year reseach on "La letteratura di pieta' nella Malta del XVIII secolo". In particular, Dr. Zammit studied various academic fields such as the correlation between Italian playwrights Luigi Pirandello and Ugo Betti, the 18th century chronicle in manuscript form "Il Giornale Maltese" by the well known historian Ignazio Saverio Mifsud and its correlation with Ludovico Antonio Muratori's "Annali d'Italia" as well as a multidisciplinary research regarding religious literature, especially homiletics: a comparative study between Maltese religious orators and their Italian models from the late 17th century till the early 19th century through a literary, linguistic, semiotic, historical, anthropological, cultural and religious perspective. Dr. Zammit studied at the Universities of Malta, Perugia, Roma Tre and Roma La Sapienza. He carried out research at the main archives, libraries and Universities of Malta, Rome, Turin and Venice. In addition he is the author of various research papers published both in Malta and Italy. His interests range from Italian language, literature, culture and history to communications, media, journalism, cultural relations, comparative literature as well as religious literature. Dr. Zammit has been teaching Italian since October 1983. During his research period in Rome (2004/2005), Dr. Zammit taught Italian language and culture to University foreign students at the Convitto Internazionale San Tommaso D'Aquino in the heart of the Eternal City. In September 2005, Dr. Zammit joined the Department of Italian within the University of Malta Junior College. Currently his teaching duties include various aspects of Italian language, literature and culture.
