MSCA-PF Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026

The University of Malta acts as a host institution for postdoctoral fellows in the framework of the programme for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF).

This opportunity includes two options for PFs, European Fellowships (EF) and Global Fellowships (GF). Successful applications will be offered a fully funded position across two (2) years for EFs, and up to three (3) years for GFs, comprising of an initial outgoing phase of 12 to 24 months to an institution in a non-associated Third Country, followed by a mandatory 12-month return phase to the beneficiary in an EU Member State or Associated Country. PFs may carry out (not mandatory, but recommended) secondments during the fellowship up to ⅓ of the fellowship duration, as well as a 6 month non-academic placement, taking place after the end of the Fellowships.

Funding: This call works on a fixed cost per unit basis, adjusted by the relevant country co-efficient tied to the Cost of Living of the country of the Host Institution which, for Malta, is currently 91.8%.

  • Living Allowance: EUR 6,350 per month
  • Mobility Allowance: EUR 710 per month
  • Research, Training and Networking contribution - EUR 1,000 per month
  • Management and Indirect Contribution - EUR 650 per month
  • Where applicable, family, long-term leave and special needs allowances

What is the criteria of eligibility for a candidate PF?

  • The candidate may be of any nationality.
  • The candidate must be, at the date of the call deadline, in possession of a doctoral degree.
  • At the call deadline, supported researchers must have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date that the researcher was in a possession of a doctoral degree and certified by appropriate documents.   • The candidate cannot have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary (Malta) for more than 12 months within the 3 years before the call deadline for 2026.
  • Only 1 proposal per candidate may be submitted to this call.
