M-ERA.NET is a European-funded initiative supported locally by Xjenza Malta. It aims to fund research and innovation in materials science and battery technologies, aligning with the European Green Deal and the UN sustainable development goals.
Maximum Funding: EUR 300,000 per project for Maltese entities
Two-Stage Process: Successful applications from this Stage 1: Preproposal will be invited to develop and submit a Full Proposal for Stage 2 by 18 November 2026.
Project Duration: Up to 36 months.
Technology Readiness Levels (TRL): between TRL 1 and TRL 7.

If the University of Malta (UM) is the Project Coordinator, the PI must also submit the consortium’s proposal to the M-ERA.NET by 12 May 2026, 12:00 CET. This is in addition to the national submission to Xjenza Malta.
