M-ERA.NET Joint Call with Xjenza Malta

M-ERA.NET is a European-funded initiative supported locally by Xjenza Malta. It aims to fund research and innovation in materials science and battery technologies, aligning with the European Green Deal and the UN sustainable development goals.

Maximum Funding: EUR 300,000 per project for Maltese entities

Two-Stage Process: Successful applications from this Stage 1: Preproposal will be invited to develop and submit a Full Proposal for Stage 2 by 18 November 2026.

Project Duration: Up to 36 months.

Technology Readiness Levels (TRL): between TRL 1 and TRL 7.

Call topics: For 2026, the focus is on clean energy technologies, future batteries, the circular economy, and the integration of digital technologies:

  • Materials for energy storage and distribution systems
  • Materials for energy conversion Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
  • Innovative functional materials with defined architectures
  • Materials addressing environmental challenges
  • Next generation materials for electronics
