This degree is aimed at those seeking to specialise in community studies at Masters level and to bolster their community work and development skills. It entails three years of part time study including a two-year taught component, where students are exposed to both the foundational and core concepts of community studies and the requisite skill set for engaging and impactful community work. During their final year of study students are expected to successfully complete a dissertation on a related research topic and thus will be in a privileged position to contribute to the growing corpus of knowledge in this exciting field of inquiry. This Master degree provides an enthralling academic and vocational pathway for holders of a Bachelor degree in youth and community studies or in social work, social policy, sociology, criminology, anthropology, psychology or in any related area and who wish to contribute to making their community spaces safer, stronger and open to positive change. Applicants must also possess a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a community setting.
