Separating and collecting waste

We are dedicated to waste separation and collection and for this to be available throughout the University of Malta Msida Campus, auxiliary campuses and the Junior College.

A waste separation pilot project commenced in March 2020 covering the building at Gateway, the Administration block, University House and the Faculty of Economics, Management & Accountancy (FEMA) building.

The Quadrangle and Gateway outdoor areas were also part of this pilot project. In September 2025 new waste-separation bins for open spaces at UM were installed across Campus.

A number University buildings have been provided with waste-separation bins and work is underway to equip the remaining buildings with the appropriate bins for internal use.
