The Faculty of Arts is offering all university students the opportunity to study a foreign language from scratch or to strengthen their knowledge of a language they have already studied at SEC, Intermediate, or Advanced level. Chinese is spread out over two years (i.e. 4 semesters) while French, German, Italian and Spanish are spread out over three years (i.e., 6 semesters). They may be taken concurrently with any undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the University, whether followed on a full-time or part-time basis.
The Certificate is offered in the following languages: Spanish, Italian, German or French. For academic year 2026/27, the Certificate in Language Proficiency in Arabic and the Certificate in Language Proficiency in Chinese will not be on offer.
Students who have completed the Certificate in German or who already have a B1 level in German can apply for the Diploma in Language Proficiency in German (6 semesters).
Members of the General Public are welcome to join the language proficiency courses.
