EcoFem — Ecofeminism and Regenerative Agriculture is an Erasmus+ KA210-YOU project led by the Department of Maths and Science Education of the Faculty of Education together with the local cultural not-for-profit organization GO CARO and the Slovene Permaculture Association (Društvo za Permakulturo Slovenije - DPS). From February 2026 to June 2027, this transdisciplinary cooperation will empower young people and youth workers as active agents of change by promoting agroecological skills, ecofeminist values, and ecological literacy across Europe through open-access resources, and inclusive educational activities.
EcoFem aims to highlight the interrelatedness of gender equality, social justice, and the values of the ecofeminist movement with the agroecological transition within the food system and related sectors through informal education, cooperation and awareness raising.
The project will co-develop with local stakeholders a multilingual manual on best practices collecting stories, testimonies and traditional knowledge on regenerative agriculture practices, environmental-friendly actions, community-making and social justice stories focussed on ecofeminism. Partners will also publish the 2027 Lunar Calendar, an educational and reflective tool promoting sustainable farming practices and tips to harmonize lifestyles with natural cycles. To promote community-based learning opportunities, EcoFem partners will organize book clubs, cineforums, and local workshops to engage and exchange with youth communities in Malta, Italy, and Slovenia, both in rural and urban contexts.
In addition to these activities, the project is organising an international training session – the Permaculture Design Course (PDC) – in Slovenia hosted by DPS, which will be open to young people between 18 and 30 years old. The PDC, based on the 72-hour international curriculum, will be an immersive community-based experience about permaculture, , ecological design, ecofeminism and sustainable practices, and participants will receive Youthpass certifications. A limited number of scholarships (4) covering travel, course fee and accommodation will be offered by the University of Malta shortly. EcoFem will celebrate its achievement with a final event in Malta in 2027 organized by the University of Malta, bringing together youth, experts, and stakeholders to share knowledge and practices, as well as sowing seeds for future collaborations.
