Established in 1978, the Department of Accountancy is the largest Department in the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (F.E.M.A). Its main course stream at the undergraduate level is the Accountancy Major in the Bachelor of Commerce and its major postgraduate course is the professional degree of Master in Accountancy. As of the year 2019/20, the Department also launched the degree of Master in Taxation. Furthermore, the Department provides the accountancy content for various courses in other Departments, Faculties, and Institutes including M.B.A., and B.Com.(Hons), Foundation Studies, M.A. (Financial Services), Higher Diploma in Public Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Sector Accounting, and various other degrees, diplomas, and certificates as requested from year to year. It also conducts accredited CPE programmes for Maltese Certified Public Accountants.
