Students are requested to familiarise themselves with the procedures and conduct the necessary preparations before they leave their home country. Obtaining a visa and a residence permit is a legal requirement to enter and reside in Malta. Students will be provided with further information on the process of application during the Orientation session. It is therefore important for you to make arrangements to arrive on time.
Information concerning the opening of a bank account is available online. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the requirements prior to your arrival in Malta. If needed, the International Office will provide guidance on the opening of Bank Accounts. It is not advisable to withdraw large amounts of money from ATMs. Although Malta is a safe place, you are strongly advised to take all necessary precautions.
Information concerning insurance is included in the requirements for the e-residence permit available online. Any queries regarding these requirements can be addressed to the International Office at UM.
If you have any medical condition, it is important that you bring all medications and the respective prescriptions to cover you for at least the month in Malta. If you need any specialised medical care, the International Office can provide you with contacts of hospitals, doctors and other health services as required.
