The right to privacy is a fundamental human right, protected under the Maltese Constitution and reinforced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR sets out a comprehensive legal framework to safeguard individuals’ personal data and regulate its processing across the EU.
This training provides a practical and comprehensive introduction to the GDPR, designed to enhance participants’ awareness of data protection requirements and their real-world application. It aims to build a solid understanding of the legal obligations, operational practices, and ethical considerations involved in handling personal data.
Participants will explore key topics, including:
Data protection principles;
Data accountability;
Individual rights and how to manage data access requests;
The role and responsibilities of the Data Protection Officer (DPO);
EU regulations and local Maltese data protection laws.
The session includes interactive elements and concludes with a dedicated Q&A segment, offering participants the opportunity to clarify specific concerns and discuss real-life scenarios related to their roles at UM.
