This practical workshop is designed to support both new and experienced beadles in developing the confidence and skills necessary to effectively use and support the technology in their respective spaces, as well as to troubleshoot common issues that may arise. Participants will gain hands-on experience and foundational knowledge to ensure teaching venues are prepared and functioning efficiently for staff and students.

The session will cover:

• The Beadle's Role as First-Line Support: Understanding the importance of your role in maintaining a smooth teaching and learning environment.
• Technology Overview: Familiarisation with the audio-visual and digital technologies commonly used in University learning spaces.
• Practical Venue Preparation: Learning hands-on how to set up a venue for effective use by staff and students.
• Common Issues & Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving routine technical problems quickly and effectively.
• Escalating to the LSTS Team: Knowing when and how to escalate complex issues to the Learning Space Technology Support (LSTS) team.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Clearly define the beadle’s role in providing first-line support for technology in learning spaces;
• Identify and operate key technology components used in teaching venues;
• Confidently prepare a venue for use by academic staff and students;
• Troubleshoot and resolve common technical issues independently;
• Understand the escalation protocol and communicate effectively with the LSTS team when additional support is needed.

Terminalfour is the Web Content Management System (CMS) used to manage the University of Malta’s website. It provides a structured and user-friendly interface for publishing, editing, and maintaining web content. This hands-on workshop is designed to help staff understand the fundamental concepts of Terminalfour and develop the skills needed for day-to-day website updates.

Participants will gain an overview of the system and explore these core concepts: Sections, Content, Media Library, and Publishing. The workshop includes practical demonstrations and guided exercises to ensure participants can confidently navigate and manage web pages.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Navigate the Terminalfour interface and understand the role of Sections, Content, Media Library, and Publishing in managing web pages effectively;
• Edit and update the content of UM webpages content, including adding new sections, modifying text, uploading images, and embedding media;
• Publish and manage website updates efficiently.
